Business Internet

Frequently asked questions

NBN stands for the National Broadband Network. NBN is an Australian National Data Network project aiming to provide high-speed Internet for all Australian users. NBN includes both wired and radio communications such as satellite access network — everything is operated by nbn™ Co Limited.
NBN has spread across Australia and is still rapidly growing with 8 million homes and businesses currently connected to NBN. Learn whether your business address is available to connect to NBN.
Firstly, you will need to submit the NBN internet application. The service order will then be processed within 24 hours of submission upon receipt of the application. Standard delivery times of NBN connection range between 7-28 business days.
No, you don’t. When the nbn™ broadband access network reaches your business, your landline phone will need to be switched over. It’s better to get recommendations from your current landline provider. Alternatively, you can purchase geographic or toll-free numbers directly from VoIPSmart and use it concurrently with our advanced mPBX features.
Unlike the old ADSL, NBN does not require a dedicated active phone line. Therefore, a landline is not a mandatory requirement to activate your internet service.
The NBN Internet service will be the sole connection for your broadband service. This will automatically override any existing ADSL or Cable connection currently used at the premises. Note once your NBN is connected, you will be unable to retrieve your previous ADSL/Cable connection.

Selecting the correct internet speeds and usage is based on a number of variables. This may depend on your business needs and the number of staff using the service. When deciding on an internet speed you should consider the actual internet usage required.

For example, if you have a small number of staff and rarely stream videos, opting for 100 Mbps internet speed plan will most likely be sufficient. Likewise, if you have a large number of staff with dozens of devices connected to the web, it is recommended to opt for the 500 Mbps internet speed plan to ensure a fast and stable internet connection for all users.
